Christopher & Lee Ong (“ “CLO””), a member firm of Rajah & Tann Asia, strengthens its Restructuring & Insolvency Practice with the addition of new partner, Chua See Hua. She brings with her extensive legal experience in Restructuring & Insolvency, and a wideranging roster of local and international clients.
See Hua joins the Firm at a time when the Southeast Asian region, especially in Malaysia, sees an increase in debt restructuring and insolvency affecting multiple industries due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. She will co-head the Restructuring & Insolvency Practice Group and play a pivotal role in expanding the practice alongside the Firm’s Head of Dispute Resolution, John Mathew.
Managing Partner, Yon See Ting, said: “We are delighted to have See Hua join us as she brings to our established Restructuring & Insolvency practice, a very experienced pair of hands who will bring great value to our clients with her pragmatic and professional approach for which See Hua is known for.”
See Hua has led a number of notable deals, from the Asian financial crisis to the 2008 global financial crisis, where she advised and worked with borrowers, lenders and administrators on the corporate debt restructuring of huge portfolios of Malaysian public listed groups. Her practice extends to advising major corporations on transactions involving acquisitions and divestments of companies (both public and private), banking, property-related issues, private equity investments, and capital markets.
“See Hua’s experience in restructuring and insolvency will add width and depth to our capabilities,” said John Mathew, the Head of Dispute Resolution practice in CLO.
Commenting on her new role, See Hua said: “I am delighted to join a dynamic and forward looking firm and to be working with colleagues who share similar values, commitment and passion for the practice.”
See Hua’s team joins CLO from Chua Associates, a boutique law firm specialising in Restructuring & Insolvency, which See Hua founded in 2010.
See Hua and her team coming on board at this juncture is opportune as not only will this add tremendous value to both CLO’s clients but also the Firm’s Restructuring & Insolvency practice at a time when Malaysia and the region’s economies require advice and insights on this area of law.
