He is regularly engaged in disputes arising from technology, construction, and infrastructure projects, providing clients with strategic and commercially focused advice. His expertise in insolvency and restructuring includes advising on liquidations, receiverships, and corporate restructuring schemes.

Corporate & Commercial Disputes

  • Acted for a Singaporean hospitality provider in enforcing claims for outstanding payments under multiple management agreements against a Malaysian property developer. 
  • Acted for a global hotel chain in a SIAC arbitration concerning a dispute arising from a service agreement during the COVID-19 pandemic. 
  • Acted for a local financial institution at the Federal Court to safeguard their registered charge as a bona fide purchaser for valuable consideration over land fraudulently transferred. 
  • Regularly advices and represents clients in debt recovery and enforcement matters involving garnishee, receivership, judicial management, winding-up and bankruptcy. 

Directors’ Duties & Corporate Fraud

  • Acted for a publicly listed company in a claim against previous directors for breach of fiduciary duties and negligence. 
  • Acted for a healthcare service provider against a director for breach of fiduciary duties. 

Joint Venture / Shareholder Disputes

  • Acted for a majority shareholder and director of a large engineering firm in defending a minority oppression claim under Section 346 of the Companies Act.
  • Acted in multiple shareholders’ disputes arising from joint venture agreements between Malaysian and Singaporean entities. 

Construction & Projects Disputes

  • Acted for a publicly listed hospital chain in a technology dispute concerning the implementation of a Hospital Information System across 30 hospitals. 
  • Acted for an EPC company in arbitration and adjudication proceedings pertaining to the construction of residential units under the Prima affordable housing project.
  • Acted in a claim concerning the wrongful termination of a consultancy agreement for the construction of a biogas powerplant. 
  • Acted for an Indian Oil & Gas company in an application to set aside an international arbitral award on the issue of limitation at the Court of Appeal and Federal Court. 
  • Regularly advises and represents clients in claims under the Construction Industry Payment & Adjudication Act 2012 (CIPAA). 

Restructuring & Insolvency

  • Acted for the holding company of a leading local airline in a group restructuring exercise, including multiple share capital reduction Court applications. 
  • Acted for a Dutch multinational company in a group restructuring scheme involving the amalgamation of 2 Malaysian subsidiaries. 
  • Acted for the liquidator in the compulsory winding up of a publicly listed steel miller and advised on corporate restructuring via a scheme of arrangement. 
  • Acted for the liquidator in the creditors’ voluntary liquidation of a large regional paper manufacturer and supplier, which was eventually terminated under Companies Act 2016 following a successful asset sale and settlement of debts.
  • Acted for the directors of a company in receivership in multiple suits brought against the company.
